The Dread is a an organization that initially served as The Witness's enforcers prior to its death and the creation of the Echoes.
History
The Dread were initially created from imprints of the Disciples the Witness throughout its campaign to link the Traveler with the Veil and enact its vision of the Final Shape. Nezarec became the first Tormentor and described by Hidden intelligence as the Tormentor Prime. However, more forms of the Dread were created after the Witness was able to enter the Pale Heart with its use of both The Darkness and The Light together. The Grim were created from the dissenters' minds being made into a physical form as punishment for their disobedience, while the Attendants were created from the memory of the Psion Uolot and the Weavers were made from the memory of the Psion Aemn. The Dread were encountered throughout the Pale Heart and after its death, began making their pursuit to reshape themselves.
Enemy Variants
- Grim - flying, acrobatic units that can inflict targets that get too close to it with the Tinnitus debuff.
- Husk - melee units that throw a Vicious Dissonance grenade attack and leave behind a Geist in death unless its belly is targeted.
- Attendant - modified Psions that that uses Stasis to slow targets in an area.
- Weaver - modified Psions that uses Strand to pulls its targets toward its direction.
- Omen - units that summons a Resonant Harrier to nearby allies and summons Stasis crystals to then shatter them.
- Harbinger - units that enrage nearby Dread units and casts a projectile that can suspend targets caught in the projectile’s path.
- Tormentor - units that casts Void attacks and rushes nearby targets to perform a Dark Harvest move.
