Orin, formerly known as The Emissary, was the emissary for the enigmatic entities known as The Nine. She has or had a snake tattoo on her upper arm.[1]
Biography
Initially born as Nasya Sarwar during the late Golden Age, she was one of the people who was aboard the Yang Liwei when the Collapse occurred and possessed a silver jar. The vessel was affected by the creation of a singularity where The Distributary was created as a result of the conflict between The Traveler and the Black Fleet. She was reborn as an Awoken named Nasan Ar and later joined Sjur Eido as the Disarym's translator. However, the Disarym's strange disappearance instigated the Theodicy War, which ended with Alis Li stepping down as the Awoken Queen. She would be one of the people who followed Mara Sov into the exodus from the Distributary and made foothold in The Reef. She left the Reef and went to Earth, where she was killed by the Warlords. She was reborn as a Titan named Orin and was resurrected by a Ghost named Gol.[2] While as a Guardian, she joined the Pilgrim Guard, but became dissatisfied with it, so she met an Awoken man named Namqi and the pair decided to pursue a relationship. During that time, the duo were punished for violating the Queenslaw and Orin gained an audience with Mara who would call upon Orin when the time came right. She sought out Mara for the favor she owed, which was to investigate the mysterious death of Sjur, who Mara believed was killed by The Nine. She began uncover the truth when she met Xûr, an Agent of the Nine. Thought she met him with hostility, Xûr revealed that dust is the flesh of the Nine and she recovers the silver jar. She tells her companions information about her experiences with the Nine. Her and Namqi reunite in person after serving his sentence, but their relationship ended in tragedy when Namqi was killed in an Aphelion attack aboard the RSS Amestris. She eventually met another Guardian by the name of Wu Ming, more commonly called the Drifter and formed a friendship to cope with Namqi's loss. She later discovered his affiliation with an organization of Dredgens called the Shadows of Yor, and ended the friendship. She began to seek out the Nine, stealing ingredients for Queensfoil in the process and made her way past the heliopause, where she was conscripted into the Emissary of the Nine as the Red War began in the Sol System. During her time as the Emissary, she would host the Trials of the Nine, the Reckoning, and the Rite of the Nine, and had the Guardian follow the Invitations of the Nine once they were acquired from Xûr and the required objectives were completed. In return, the Nine would tell her of their division and Theia's demise long ago. She began to regret her role as the Emissary and would use the persona of Orin to send messages to the Guardian during the time when the Prophecy dungeon was explored for the Guardian to gain an audience with the Nine to answer a question: what is the Darkness? She began putting her plans for escape into motion and would eventually succeed.
